Hate What Harms the Soul

Hating sin is not the same as hating people. The Fathers remind us that Christian hatred should be reserved for one thing only: evil itself. Not inconvenience. Not people who disagree with us. Not failure. But sin—the thing that separates us from God.

Train your heart to be repulsed by what kills love, wounds the soul, and dishonors God.

Suggestions for the Day

  • Reflect on a sin that’s been dulled by familiarity. Ask for the grace to hate it again.
  • Watch your language today: do you speak with disdain about people or about sin?
  • Make an act of contrition sincerely and deliberately.

If this reflection resonated with you, consider joining Catholic Men of America to grow in faith and fraternity with Catholic men across the country.
